• This procedure is used to evaluate the uterine cavity in patients who have abnormal bleeding or is often used in conjuction with the Essure and Novasure procedures.

• Many patients can have this procedure done in our office.

• Oral Sedation is optional.

• Some patients will be given medication to use the night before that helps dilate the cervix.

• Local anesthesia is used.

• A hysteroscope (5mm telescopic device) is inserted into the uterus through the cervix and a monitor displays the picture.

• Patients have the option to view the monitor picture if they wish.

• Normal saline is infused to open the uterine cavity.

• Biopsies can be taken if necessary.

• Uterine polyps can be located and removed.

• Expect full recovery the following day
